Jennifer Aniston - WIP by mtsfsr Jennifer Aniston - WIP by mtsfsr
I wasn't really sure about posting this WIP but I guess it will take some time before I finish it, since I still need to study about how to draw her hair and I won't do that so soon because I have some college things to do. Besides, I wanted a reason to move the previous version to scraps now that it looks weird to my eyes =D

I believe I'm learning really faster about portraits than I expected. This time I'm using a different kind of paper, with a higher density and roughness, which lead me to rely more on the H pencils. I've been paying more attention on the whole drawing process and detected a lot of issues that I still need to improve, which keeps me motivated to keep going :)

update: I believe this is a more interesting wip to display here, since it shows how I started the hair. It's also marks the moment when I was at a higher level of satisfaction with this work, since, after this, I kinda messed a bit and overworked on some areas, which made some textures fade so the result wasn't as good as I expected. I'll try to keep this in mind for the next drawing.

Thank you ^^! I'm glad you like it! :)

Well, I can certainly tell you that everything I know about drawing portraits came from deviantArt. You probably already noticed that there are tons of amazing artists here that are constantly posting not only finished works, but WIPs, tutorials and even some small particular tips which allows you to understand their whole drawing process. In my case, as I don't have much time to practice, I usually take a some minutes almost everyday to absorb as much as I can from these guys so I can improve on my next attempt.

Great job so far. Good work on the hand, I struggle with them. What do you use for blending? Looking forward to see how you approach her hair.

Thanks! I'm using some soft handkerchief paper for larger areas and a blending stick for the small ones or that has a higher contrast with some close by areas. But I'm trying to use them less so there can be some texture.
